Cameras and Photocopies
Photocopies: 50 cents per page
There is a daily fee of $5 for use of a digital camera. Researchers are required to agree to HSP's camera policy.
General Procedure
- New visitors are required to agree to read and sign a registration form upon their first visit.
- All belongings must be left in a locker (requires 25 cents to operate) before entering the library.
- Every researcher must stop at the security desk in the lobby every time he or she enters or leaves the library area and subject his materials to a search.
- As usual, only a laptop computer, pencil, and notebook/paper are allowed into the research area. If it is your first time visiting, make sure to stop by the Reference Desk for an orientation.
- On call slips you must indicate where you are sitting--the number is located at each seat on the tables. Request only 1 box per call slip, and you can submit up to 3 call slips at a time. If you have requested more than one box, the librarian in the Restricted Use Area allows you to take just one box to your seat, while leaving the others at the front desk.
Miscellaneous
- Sit-down computers are available for public use in the main entrance hall before going into the restricted access area. Some computers are limited to catalog searches only while others are OK for regular internet use.
- Signs say you need a key for the bathroom, but you don't.

Appointments
Here it is probably least necessary to make an appointment. Anyone at the reference desk can help you, and there is no requirement that you call ahead before visiting.
